Now for the upper half of the painting, thinking about the background, I think I would like to frisket over the flowers and stems and create a beautiful blue sky, my advisor Guy says this would really work well for this setting. The reference photo has brick work and lawn, too much detail, think I will listen to Guy on this one.

Hi Joyce, the orange poppy looks fantastic and I agree about the dewdrops. They fit perfect in this painting.
ReplyDeleteI too was wondering what you would do with a background. A blue sky will give the perfect contrast- I agree with Guy.
I am looking forward to see your next step.
Doris
Thanks Doris, I too am anxious about getting the sky in, I think this will be my next step.
ReplyDeleteHope all is well with you.
Hello Joyce, I so enjoy your demo and I can't wait to see the sky coming in. I am sure you are nervous. LOL
ReplyDeleteThank you all is well here. It is a stressful time right now, because my son will have his first holy communion this weekend and we will have the house full of guests and I must cook and bake and so on.
But i hope to get a minute to see if you have posted something new.
I too was wondering if all is fine with you, since you have not posted very much.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Doris
This is looking absolutely gorgeous! Can't wait to see it with that blue!
ReplyDeleteThanks Angela, I can not wait either, but will have to I am off teaching next week, so the painting will be put on hold until Thursday or Friday. Also Doris been so busy not able to get to art colony for a bit. Congratulations to you and your son on the first holy communion, I am sure the party will go great.
ReplyDeleteHi Joyce...the painting is looking fabulous. Guess we were all wondering about that background and I think the blue will be perfect. Those poppies should be in my garden!! Have you ever painted the peony poppies that look like a ruffled ball? Would love to see your take on them.
ReplyDeleteHi Mollie! Have not had an opportunity to paint the peony poppies, have thought it would be a fun floral to paint. I'll look around to see if I can find them to photograph, for a future painting. I want to start adding florals to my workshop lessons, I think this would lead to more workshops.
ReplyDeleteWow, stunning--beautiful workmanship and artistry perfectly combined.
